I’ve owned various screen protectors in recent years. I love the glass like feel of the cheap 3-5 pack PET 3 layer protectors and detest the sticky feel of military grade water installation protecters such as Zagg Invisibleshield and Armorsuit Military Shield. It is unfortunate that a good screen protector that can fit both criteria is normally in the twenty dollar range, or you have to purchase a tempered glass protector. Tempered glass screen protectors are not available for all devices so I took my chances and ordered the Amazon Fire 10 version if the IQ LiquidSkin and trimmed it to fit my 9 inch Lenovo a2109.
At first inspection the IQ Shield like the PET screen protectors and military grade screen protectors had a baby. Instead of being clingy like the PET protectors it has a sticky feeling adhesive like the military grade protectors (hence the water based installation). The front of the protector (non-sticky side) is smooth but feels like a Zagg Shield. The microfiber cloth that comes in the package is gray with IQ Shield branding, and is much larger than the little squares most screen protectors are shipped with.
The IQ Shield is by far the best screen protector I’ve ever had. There is enough spray used during installation so you can slide the protector around until you get it lined up without worrying about damaging your device. I always have a problem aligning the PET screen protectors to screens, but the water based installation of the IQ Shield makes it much easier. The mini squegee that comes in the kit is excellent for squeezing out excess water between the screen and the protector. It also worked wonders for getting out ALL of the air bubbles.
SIDE NOTE: My screen has one wavy crack in the top left corner and during the squegee process the IQ Shield adhered itself to it perfectly.
After I completed the installation I let my device sit overnight (appx. 8 hours) and it was usable. There were still a few spots on my screen that were not dry (rainbow dot circles), but that cleared up after 2 days. Now my screen is crystal clear like I don’t have a screen protector on at all and it feels amazing! My screen is buttery smooth just like the regular glass and ultra protected from further damage. I even have about three quarters of the spray left to use when I need to remove stubborn fingerprints.
Furthermore, I have noticed that my Bargains Depot 0.18 inch tip stylus does not glide as well even though the screen protector is not sticky and still feels like the original tablet glass. Even with this issue I’m definitely going to purchase two of these for the kids’ Fire 7 (2015) tablets they received for Christmas.
***after changing tips on the stylus it glides good as new***
I highly recommend this screen protector, it’s self healing, ultra clear and exremely durable. The IQ Shield Liquidskin is available for numerous products, visiting the manufacturer’s website reveals all of the name brands and “other” brands the shield is available for.
