Mikky and I try to do one geography project a month. I’m trying something different for the next few weeks. she will be working on one internatiional capital city a week. The week before last she studied about Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. Her project have completing the study guide and watching a thirty minute tourist video was to create a travel brochure for the city. due to Easter festivities last week she worked on a Easter unit study that involved the secular/non-Christian side of Easter versus the Christian side of Easter. This week she is working on Paris, France. Below is a list of resources I’ve pulled together for her to use. She usually finds YouTube videos and other website to help her research for her study guides, so I will post links to those as they become available.
Homeschool Unit Study: Paris, France
Touring the World’s Capital Cities Paris: The Capital of France: This video is available to stream for free to Amazon Prime videos. It is also available to rent for $2.99
Paris Webquest fact Hunt: This pdf was created by a French language teacher for students in 6-8 grades.
Virtual Tour of Paris and France App: This app is available for $0.99 in the Google Play Store. It is an excellent virtual tour containing pictures and key information on 23 tourist destinations located in Paris and France.
Basic Map of France: This worksheet is available free via the TES Resources website. You do have to create an account to download the worksheet, but accounts are free. It contains, a Map of France with some tasks to name seas, countries in France and to circle some key towns on it, just to make them aware of some basic geography
Normally our Geography Unit studies last four days. For Mikky it’s enough time to learn the key information without getting bored of the unit. The study guides/webquest facts take 2 days, 1 day for note taking with the video, 1 or 2 days to put together the final project for the unit. After we finish a unit study we take pictures of all projects and upload them to our school Google Drive account so we have digital backups of everything we’ve studied. I hope this helps you put together an informative, unit study for your child or students.
