Ruby’s Age Ranking:
SimCity BuildIt is available for free in the Google Play Store and in the Amazon’s Appstore for Android, but there are in-app purchases for this game. Purchases range from 0.99-99.99USD. The in-app purchases in SimCity BuildIt are not direct upgrades. The player buys Simoleons (in-game coins) and Simcash (equivalent of paper money). After a Simoleons or Simcash bundle is purchased you can go into your game and buy buildings or specializations for your city.
BUILD YOUR CITY
With countless buildings and vivid, 3D-quality graphics, this is the most realistic city builder on mobile. Place buildings strategically to keep the taxes flowing and your city growing. Pinch, zoom, and rotate 360 degrees as you manage and expand your city on the go – both online and offline.
BRING YOUR CITY TO LIFE:
Create resources and build up your skyline. Then trade resources with friends and other cities. Complete boat orders and ship cargo from your airport. Build Tokyo-style neighborhoods and unlock exclusive landmarks like the Statue of Liberty and the Arc de Triomphe. Expand along the beach with a marina, waterpark, and more. Even unleash natural and not-so-natural disasters, like UFOs!
KEEP YOUR CITIZENS HAPPY
Solve real life challenges like traffic, fires, and pollution. Provide services like power plants and police departments to meet your citizens’ needs, and boost your population with parks and education. Keep traffic moving with grand avenues and streetcars. Complete fun challenges to shape your society.
COMPETE TO EARN REWARDS
Take on other players around the world in the Contest of Mayors! Advance through Leagues and make your way to the top. Complete new challenges each week, and climb the ranks all the way to the Megalopolis Elite League.
This game takes up 149mb of space so take care to download it over wifi if you can.Upon opening the game after installation you may still need to download extra files. I’m really glad that there is a tutorial at the beginning of the game. The tutorial introduces you to gameplay and where to find certain types of buildings, adding roads, and other in game menu tips.
After playing the game for a few months I think there should be a Kenny Rogers Sim saying the chorus to The Gambler. He’d fit in perfectly after the tutorial is over. You really need to know when to hold your Simoleons, bulldoze a few houses, not upgrade and so on. SimCity BuildIt is an excellent city building game, that also plays like a game of chess. You have to create some strategy to be successful. When you first start out keep in mind that you may not want to go with the smallest and cheapest Services. Another great tip: trade, and post items for sale in the Global Trade Depot if you need a few things to complete a mission or house. If you need money it pays to leave your game alone for a few days. As long as your Sims are happy they will pay their taxes. Checking in to collect taxes and manufacter goods to sale pays off in the long run.
SimCity BuildIt has an incredible community, and I advise you to check out SCBuildIt.com. This website is packed with great tips and tricks to take your game further. If you’re really interested in the game and you have just started this site can keep you from doing a total city bulldoze. That brings me to the part I hate about the game. You cannot erase your game and start over once you have linked it to Facebook or Google Play Games. If you feel like you can’t get anywhere with the game and you want to start over the only thing you can do is bulldoze it.
If you watch some YouTube reviews or gameplays of SimCity BuildIt you notice that a lot of people talk about how gorgeous the game is. The hype is worth it. SC BuildIt is beautiful. The colors are outstanding even on a low end device like the Amazon Fire 7 (2015) tablet. I suggest taking a look at how the water flows, it’s so pretty! Mobile gaming has come a long way.
I installed the game first on my Tegra 3 tablet, and it runs great. My tablet runs it very smoothly, even with there are multiple upgrades and other actions being performed on the screen. The newest Amazon Fire 7 inch tablet runs it just as smoothly. I installed SimCity BuildIt from the Amazon App Store onto Monkey’s Fire and there were no problems. I did find that playing on the 7 inch screen required a lot more pinching and zooming, so I like it better on my 9 inch Android tablet.
In short there is very little that this game gets wrong. SimCity BuildIt requires a lot of attention and planning to ensure your Sims stay happy. The game is an excellent city simulator. The educational value here is outstanding. Time and resource management, selling, and trading are just a few skills practiced if you let your kids play this game.
